Frequently asked questions
What people want to know before applying. You can find more about deadlines and the process under “How it works”.
Who gets funding
Who can apply, entitlement and money from other sources.
Who can apply?
You work in a hotel or restaurant, or you last worked in one. And you are allowed to work in Austria. It does not matter whether you work full-time, part-time or in a marginal job (geringfügig). If you want to claim travel costs, you must live in Austria.
Am I entitled to the funding?
No. We check every application. If everything is in order and there is enough money, your application will be approved. There is no legal right to it.
Can I get funding if I already receive benefits from the AMS?
Yes, in most cases. But you must not get money twice for the same costs – from the AMS and from us. We check this. Not sure? Give us a call.
Funding and money
What we pay for, how much you get and where the money comes from.
Which costs are covered?
We offer these types of funding: money when unemployed, tourism scholarship (course costs, travel costs and money to live on), bonus for apprentices, course voucher, childcare allowance, help with special costs and the award for businesses.
Which course providers are eligible?
We only fund courses from course providers that work with us and are on our list.
Do I have to pay tax on the funding?
No. You do not pay tax on this money. It does not count as income either.
Where does the fund's money come from?
From the federal government – 6.5 million euros every year. You and your employer pay nothing towards it.
