The legal basis, bodies and documents of the Tourismusbeschäftigtenfonds: the law it works under, who makes decisions, what criteria are used for funding, and how it uses its money.

The German version of this page is legally binding.

Legal basis

The Tourismusbeschäftigtenfonds is a fund with its own legal personality. It was set up by the Tourismusbeschäftigtenfondsgesetz (TBFG), BGBl. I Nr. 119/2025. There is no legal entitlement to benefits from the fund (§ 3 Abs 3 TBFG).

Bodies and supervision

Funding decisions are made by the voluntary board (Vorstand) under § 2 TBFG. It is made up of one representative each from the Bundesarbeitskammer (Federal Chamber of Labour), the trade union and independent tourism research. Day-to-day business is run by the management. The fund is supervised by the Bundesministerium für Arbeit, Soziales, Gesundheit, Pflege und Konsumentenschutz (Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection).

Funding criteria and procedure

The fund’s Benefit Rules (Leistungsordnung) set out which benefits exist, who receives them and how an application works. The website sums them up in plain language:

The fund publishes the documents as accessible PDF files as soon as they have been adopted.
